Lesson 13 - 7 COMMITMENTS OF HOLY CLUBS
Ben shares, from Washington DC, about the 7 Commitments that drive Holy Clubs. And shares why they are important for this generation.
7 Commitments of Holy Clubs
As a young leader, I spent 7 years at the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC) in Kansas City. It was there that I learned these “7 Commitments”. They have become such a special (and extremely fruitful) part of my life, that I took these “7 Commitments” and made them the “7 Commitments of Holy Clubs”.
So, having considered the extreme crisis that confronts our generation, we must identify and clarify the biblical lifestyle that will prepare us to be part of the solution. These 7 Commitments of Holy Clubs are merely a starting point in defining a few practical ways to walk out your leadership call:
Connecting with God and changing the world through the release of His power. As Holy Clubs, we want to have a life of daily prayer for: ourselves to grow in intimacy with God, while praying for Justice in the land, praying from the bible, praying current events (local, national, global, and in Israel). Also, prayers for the those we are called to reach out and mister to (our daily list).
Positioning ourselves to receive more from God by fasting 1-2 days a week. As Holy Clubs, we are also a people who fast. We want to begin to fast 1-2 days a week and keep each other accountable within the groups we are a part of.
Being zealous for good works that exalt Jesus as we impact the seven spheres of society. As Holy Clubs, we want to seek God together, and then (if possible) minister together so as to grow and strengthen each other. Remember, “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” (Proverbs 27:17).
Experiencing the joy of financial power-encounters through sacrificially giving money to the kingdom by supporting the Prayer and Missions movement. As Holy Clubs, we want the freedom and joy found in giving to God and each other. A huge stronghold in the lives of many is the fear of money. This is when we are consumed by greed, and or, fearful of a lack of money. It is not our own strength that gets money. When we cooperate with God, using our God given gifts, He provides wealth through our God giving skills and daily jobs. Then we resist greed by cheerfully giving back to Him. Remember, we cannot serve God and mammon (Matt. 6:24). We must choose one, or the other. Either we serve money by striving with our own strength to acquire it, or we serve God and trust him to provide. So, serve God, and learn the freedom and joy of letting money flow through your hands!
Living fascinated in the pleasure of loving God which overflows into loving other people. As Holy Clubs, this is our banner! This is what will mark us! And this is what the history of heaven will explain about our lives. We are a people who love: first God, then (through him) other people. Holiness is not what we have to do. Instead, it is what we joyously get to do! “Holy” is who we are.
Taking initiative in ministering to others and making disciples by regularly leading in outreaches, prayer meetings, and Bible studies. As Holy Clubs, we must lead in situations regardless whether our flesh wants to or not. Lives are at stake, and we must complete the Great Commission. After all, it is not called the "great option".
Being faithful witnesses of the truth with a strong allegiance to Jesus’ Word. As Holy Clubs, we want to speak out about Jesus, Judgment, Justice, the Love of God, False Grace, Israel, the beauty of God, the End Times, and the Age to come. But we don't want to do it obnoxiously. And when we don't speak with love, we have become resounding gong or clanging cymbals (1 Cor. 13:1).
